1967 John Plain & Company Catalog Tonka Toys Advertisement
The John Plain & Company catalog is a multi-line catalog (like Sears) which rural retail stores maintained in place of an exhaustive inventory of cloths, toys, sporting goods, household items, furniture, small appliances, jewelry, etc. Customers could order items from the catalog (which has retail prices) only through their local store; the store was then charged the wholesale price and the items would be shipped directly to the store for customer pick-up.
